According to a study by Dimensional Research for Equinix account for three-quarters of the companies in the world like to opt for a strategy called "multi-cloud" by 2015. This involves multiplying the use of a plurality of clouds placed in different geographical locations. Substantially all of those who wish to emit this are already in the process of the cost budget. Almost as think their cloud budget increase in 2015 and a little less than half of respondents think using at least one external cloud provider.

If migration to the cloud (internal or external) has become indispensable in many cases (9 out of 10 will still deploy cloud within a year), security is seen as the biggest threat (according to 85% of respondents the survey). Performance and reliability come after. To improve the reliability and security of connecting to different clouds, 85% of respondents felt that direct network connection to the data center, bypassing Internet would be a good thing. 87% believe, moreover, necessary to achieve their goals that different clouds are connected with each other.
