
Yahoo is expected to announce Monday the acquisition of the blogging site Tumblr to 1.1 billion$ , says the Wall Street Journal reported on its website. It would be the largest acquisition of U.S. internet group since the arrival this summer of its ruling Marissa Mayer and help rejuvenate its audience. According to the American newspaper, the board approved the group Sunday, May 19 redemption network Tumblr blogs.
While rumors of the acquisition multiplied, Yahoo! announced Friday that it would hold a press conference Monday in New York without specifying the subject, merely promise to "share something special." A spokesman Yahoo! has declined to comment.
Tumblr was launched in February 2007 and now has 175 employees. Available in 12 languages, it boasts 107.9 million blogs and 50.7 billion publications.
